Today, a friend and I were on a taxi going to the company where we work as interns. We were having small talk and then our conversation somehow led to paranormal activities. Suddenly, she told me, “Hey, do you know? There is a ghost in the room where we work. I heard that a senior from our university who worked as an intern last year was haunted during eating her lunch alone.”
When I heard her, I shouted at her, “WTF! Are you serious? Don’t kid with me! I am not into horror.”
Then, we arrived in front of the company and hit the bell. A senior who works there opened the door for us. The workplace is usually filled with noises but strangely, it was completely silence when we went into the room. The senior who opened the door for us told us, “No one comes here today. I am the only one here.” I was chilled when I heard him. I blamed my friend, “Why did you tell me that kind of story? See what happens now?”
We went to our own space and doing our tasks. Suddenly, I wanted to go to the toilet. My heart was hesitating but my brain pushed me to go there. I was in the toilet and there is a mirror in front of me. I didn’t dare to look at the mirror and I was thinking I have to finish things quickly.
My eyes were looking at the left, right, up, and down. I felt very insecure. I was worried that something might show up. I rushed things and then went back to my own workspace. I thanked everything that protected me and I let out a sigh.
Normally, I am a person who loves to live alone minding my own business but I was hesitating to be alone today. I don’t know about the ghost, but I was haunted by the information I was given this morning for the whole day.
Instead of the ghost, being haunted by information is more fearful. We have fear of things when we don’t see them, we don’t know them, and we can’t predict them. Information holds invisible power that controls the inner universe of humans.
We should beware of the information.
