Young Adult

I have been wondering what is it like to be a young adult.

A person who isn’t a teenager anymore starts to change in many ways.

We start to accept the reality we are in. We had our own imagination of ideal life, heroism, perfectionism, etc in our teenage years, and then we started to realize that fairy tales are only tales which leave us no choice but to accept our reality.

We have learned about the world for quite some time. Our excitement, curiosity, wondering mind, sense of innocence, faith in ourselves, urge to take new challenges, yearning for adventure, courage to transform ourselves, and imaginative nature start to wither. In other words, our childlike hearts start to fall apart.

As a teenager, you may think “I can do everything if I try”, “I am different and unique”, “The person who can take any challenges is me”, “I am the master of my sea”, “I can save the world”, “I am the god of the universe”, etc. Once you start to transform into an adult, you start to see you are just a normal human among billions and your arrogant pride is tamed (Ignore some childish adults). We all owned a heart with a burning passion.

Along the way, we have been tainted with many colors. Our own color is about to disappear. Then, we put on a mask and we are about to sell our soul.

We who were once youths, at some point, start to change into young adults. Growing old and one day we rot away like fallen leaves without a single soul in the world knowing of about it.
